Dream of a Blue Garden (2023)

Martina Giammaria's work brings the public to a surreal, dreamlike Portofino, where two dancers reinterpret the surrounding landscape becoming, with time, a harmonic part of it. Following a sound that is not perceptible to the observers, they help the photographer create an atmosphere of marvel. Their gestures carry us to a dreaming Portofino, lived through light, wind, water, rocks and plants.

Some images were generated with artificial intelligence, therefore drawing from the collective memory that manifests when typing the word Portofino. These show a high level of uncertainty, a dream within a dream that maintains the place's characteristics, while not being a specific space in particular. Through this series, the spectator is invited to reflect on the perception of reality itself and immerse in a world of beauty and mystery. There, the boundaries between dream and reality get blurred, and one finds themself asking: what are we looking at, where are we really?

The exhibition was produced in collaboration between PhMuseum, Portofino Dry Gin and Condominio, within the program of PhMuseum Days 2023 International Photography Festival.
